Grounding for sleep

Grounding for sleep, for the nights that won't settle.

Awake at 3 am again, tired but wired, or too hot to settle. A sheet won't fix a night on its own, and we won't pretend it will. Here is what grounding is, what the research measured, what customers describe, and a way to find out on your own bed.

  • 90-day returns
  • 1-year warranty
  • Tester pen in every box
  • Organic bamboo, 10% silver

The short answer

What it is
A sheet woven with silver thread, connected to the earth point of a socket. You sleep on it as normal.
What to expect
Many notice nothing in week one. Customers most often describe deeper sleep and waking less between nights 8 and 21.
What it isn't
A treatment for insomnia or any sleep disorder. If sleep has been a medical problem, start with your GP.

Awake at 3 am

What grounding is, in one paragraph.

The earth's surface carries a small negative charge, and for most of history people touched it every day. Shoes, floors and beds took that contact away. A grounding sheet puts it back while you sleep: organic bamboo woven with 10% silver thread, connected by a cord to the earth point of a socket. No power flows. The tester pen in the box shows you it is connected.

The fitted sheet is the one most people start with, and the one the 90 nights were built for.

What the research measured

One small sleep study, with its limits.

The study most often quoted on grounding and sleep had twelve people in it and no control group. Here it is, with where it stops.

Ghaly and Teplitz, 2004
Pilot study, n = 12

Twelve adults slept grounded for eight weeks. The authors observed night-time cortisol rhythms moving toward a normal pattern, and most participants reported sleeping better and waking with less pain.

Twelve people, no control group, self-reported sleep. A starting point, not a proof.

What customers describe

Your first 30 nights, honestly.

Some people notice something the first night. Many don't until week three. That's why you get 90 days to decide, not 14.

Nights 1-7

Setup takes five minutes. Run the meter test. Most people describe a slight tingle or nothing at all. Both are normal.

Nights 8-21

This is where customers most often describe deeper sleep and waking less. Keep your normal routine so you can tell.

Nights 22-30

Wash it (gentle cycle, mild detergent). Decide whether it's earned its place. You have 60 more nights either way.

Can't switch off

Tired, but wired.

Some people start in the evening rather than in bed: bare feet on the mat while reading, or the wristband on the couch. It is a routine you can keep, and a smaller first step than the bed.

The Starter Bundle has the mat and the wristband, two cords and two tester pens.

"I use the wristband at my desk. Easy to wear, and I'm calmer by the afternoon than I used to be."

Hot, restless nights

Heat is its own problem.

Grounding isn't the answer to heat, but fabric can help. The organic bamboo in the sheet is soft and breathable, and cool in summer. 22 momme mulberry silk has less friction on hair and skin than cotton and is cooler in summer too.

The Grounding Sleep Bundle puts the grounding sheet, a silk pillowcase and a silk eye mask in one box, with the tester pen.

When to talk to your GP

Some nights need a doctor, not a sheet.

Organic Earthing products are wellness products, not medical devices, and they are not a treatment for insomnia, sleep apnoea or any other condition.

If sleep has been a problem for months, or you snore heavily or wake gasping, see your GP first. And if you take prescription medication or have an implanted device, ask your doctor before you use a grounding product.

Three ways to start

Pick the night you want.

The fitted sheet for the whole night, the bundle if heat is part of it, the wristband if you'd rather not change the bed.

Ninety nights to decide. A certificate number to start with.

If it isn't for you, send it back. If it is, the warranty runs a year.

What people ask before they buy.

How long before I notice anything?

Some people notice something the first night. Many notice nothing until the third week. Keep your routine the same so you can tell what changed.

Does it work through pyjamas?

Direct skin contact is best. Bare feet, legs or arms on the sheet is enough; you do not need to be fully uncovered.

Could it make my sleep worse?

A few people report feeling more wakeful for the first night or two. If that continues, or anything feels wrong rather than just different, unplug and email us.

Can I wear the wristband in bed instead?

Yes. Some people prefer it to a sheet, especially for reading. The cord is 4.6 metres.

Is it a treatment for insomnia?

No. It is a wellness product, not a medical device, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. If you have a sleep disorder, talk to your GP.

What if it doesn't help?

Email us within 90 days and we refund it once it lands back with us. We'll ask why, because it helps us.
