The five-minute setup

Setup and care

Three steps to connect, one to check, and the washing rules that keep the silver working. Keep this page for wash day.

A hand pushing the safety grounding plug into a wall socket

Connect

The sheet, mat and wristband all connect the same way: a cord from the product to the earth point of a power socket. No power flows. The switch can stay off.

  1. The fitted sheet goes straight onto the mattress and you sleep directly on it. The flat sheet lies across the top of your fitted sheet, under you. Either way the sheet is the layer your skin touches; blankets and a top sheet go over you as usual.
  2. Snap the cord onto the tab at the corner of the sheet, or onto the mat or wristband. It clicks.
  3. Plug the safety grounding plug into the wall. The plug in your box matches your country. It touches only the earth pin; the power pins are blank, and the cord has a resistor built in.

Check it with the pen

Every grounding product ships with a tester pen. With the cord connected, hold the pen and touch its tip to the fabric. It lights when the product is earthed. It is a conductivity check, not a health test, and it is the one thing you can measure yourself on night one.

If it does not light: check the cord is clicked on at both ends, try another socket, and if it still stays dark, have an electrician confirm the socket is earthed. Older homes and some rentals are not. Email us either way and we will sort it.

Wash

The silver runs through the weave, not over it, so washing does not strip it. Detergents with softener or bleach coat the thread and reduce conductivity, so those are the ones to avoid.

  1. Gentle cycle, cool or warm water, mild detergent.
  2. No fabric softener, no bleach, no dryer sheets.
  3. Line dry or tumble low. Unclip the cord first.
  4. Run the pen on it after the first few washes if you want reassurance. It will still light.

Mats and wristbands

The mat wipes clean with a damp cloth; it does not go in the machine. Bare feet on it is the point, so shoes and socks off. The wristband sits snug on the inside of the wrist and can be worn at the desk, reading, or in bed instead of the sheet.
