Momme is silk weight. Most pillowcases sold as silk are 16 to 19. At 22 the weave is denser, smoother and lasts longer through cold washes.

Silk has a lower friction coefficient than cotton, so hair slides instead of catching and the face is not pressed into a rough weave for eight hours.
Holds moisture where it is
