Grounding for pets

A grounding mat for dogs and cats. Is it safe?

It's the first thing owners ask, so the plain answer comes first. The mat connects to the earth pin of a socket and nothing else, so no power flows into it. The things to watch are the ordinary ones: a cord a puppy might chew, and a water bowl near the plug.

The short answer

Plugging in
Earth pin only, plastic power pins, a resistor in the cord, no power drawn. The switch can stay off.
Living with it
A waterproof carbon surface that wipes clean after accidents, 60 x 40 cm.
What we claim
Nothing medical. We don't say it treats anxiety or any condition. What your pet makes of it is up to them.

Is it safe?

Four things owners ask first.

  • Earth pin only

The plug's power pins are plastic. The mat connects to earth and nothing else.

  • The cord

No mains power runs through it, but a chewed cord comes out of use straight away. Run it behind furniture and email us for a replacement.

  • Water and accidents

The surface is waterproof and wipes clean. Keep the water bowl away from the plug.

  • Check it

The tester pen works on the pet mat too. It lights when the mat is earthed.

Where it goes

On the spot they already choose.

The sofa corner, the end of your bed, the basket. If they are wary of new surfaces, put it under their usual blanket for the first few days. Fur conducts poorly, so the mat works best where paws, belly or chin touch it.

There is no dose. Let them come and go. Many owners leave the mat where the pet sleeps and forget about it.

What to expect

What owners notice, and what we don't claim.

Storms, fireworks and the vacuum are when owners most often report their dog heading for the mat. It is a calm spot of their own either way.

We do not claim the mat treats anxiety or any condition in animals. It is a conductive surface connected to earth. If your pet is unwell, see a vet.

The mats

One for them, and one for you.

The pet mat is the same conductive surface as the human mat, sold for the animal in the house. Every mat and sheet comes with the cord, the safety plug and a tester pen.

Ninety days to see what they make of it.

The pet mat carries the same 90-day returns and 1-year warranty as everything else.

What people ask before they buy.

What if my dog chews the cord?

No mains electricity flows through the cord, but a chewed cord should come out of use straight away. Run it behind furniture or along a wall, and email us for a replacement cord if it is damaged.

Do they need to lie on it bare?

Paws, belly or chin on the mat is enough. Fur reduces contact, so a spot they stretch out on works best.

Is it safe for cats?

Cats use it the same way as dogs: a spot they choose to lie on. The same rules apply. Earth pin only, cord out of reach, and wipe it clean.

How do I clean it?

Wipe it with a damp cloth and mild soap. It is waterproof, so accidents wipe off. No machine washing, no bleach.

What size is it?

60 x 40 cm, with a 4.6 metre cord. It fits in a crate, on a couch or beside your bed.

Can I return it if they ignore it?

Yes. Email us within 90 days and you are refunded once it lands back with us.
