Grounding Sheet Sizes for US Beds: Twin, Full, Queen and California King

Measure first, then buy. See which Organic Earthing fitted grounding sheet suits a US Full, Queen or California King, and where no size matches. Chart inside.

Part ofThe grounding sheet guide

Organic Earthing's fitted grounding sheets come in Australian sizes. Double (54x75 in) fits a US Full, Queen (60x80 in) matches a US Queen, and King (72x80 in) is the size for a California King. Single (35x75 in) is narrower than a US Twin, and there is no match for a standard US King.

Most wrong-size orders happen because of a label, not a mistake with the tape measure. We're an Australian-owned, family-run brand selling globally, so our fitted sheet sizes follow Australian beds. A US Twin, an Australian Single and a US King do not describe the same mattress, and a fitted sheet that does not fit is a poor start for a product you plan to sleep on every night.

This is a straight measuring guide. It maps each of our fitted sizes to the closest US bed, says plainly where there is no match, and shows you how to measure so you can check the numbers yourself. I have not repeated the fitted versus flat, fabric or tester pen discussions here. This one is only about size.

Key Takeaways

  • Compare inches, not names. Australian and US size labels do not describe the same mattress.
  • Double (54x75 in) fits a US Full, and Queen (60x80 in) matches a US Queen.
  • King (72x80 in) is the size for a California King. Its width matches, but confirm length and depth against the product page before ordering.
  • There is no match for a US Twin, a Twin XL or a standard US King. We would rather tell you now than sell you the closest guess.
  • Every size uses the same organic bamboo with 10% silver thread, the same published certificate numbers and a tester pen in every box.
  • The 90-night trial and 1-year warranty are a backstop, not a substitute for measuring.

Why Australian and US size names do not line up

Bed size names are labels, not measurements, and Australia and the US use them differently. An Australian Single is not a US Twin, and an Australian King is not a US King. The only reliable comparison is mattress width and length in inches, so measure your bed and compare numbers, not names.

The gap is easy to underestimate. A Single and a Twin sound like the same bed. They are not. Our Single is narrower than a US Twin by several inches, and on a fitted sheet that difference decides whether the corners hold or pull away.

The King label is the more expensive trap. In Australia, King is a common double-bed upgrade. In the US, there are two large sizes, a standard King and a California King, and they differ in both width and length. Our King lines up with only one of them.

Fitted sheets have some stretch, and it is tempting to assume that a small difference will be absorbed. I would not rely on that. The product page states what each size is designed to fit, and that page, plus your own tape measure, should settle the question.

There is a second reason to care about fit with a grounding sheet specifically. The sheet is meant to be the surface you lie on, so a sheet that rides up or slips off a corner defeats the point of having bought it. Getting the size right matters more here than it does with ordinary bedding.

Match by width first, then length. Single (35x75 in) has no US Twin match. Double (54x75 in) fits a US Full. Queen (60x80 in) matches a US Queen. King (72x80 in) is the size for a California King, but not a standard US King. Confirm length and depth on the product page.

US mattress dimensions are the commonly published standard sizes, as listed in the Sleep Foundation mattress size guide. Manufacturers vary slightly, so measure your own mattress.

Twin and Twin XL: no match

Our Single is 35x75 in. A US Twin is 38 in wide, so the sheet is 3 in too narrow. A Twin XL has the same width problem and is longer again. Please do not order a Single for a Twin hoping it will stretch. If you have a Twin or Twin XL, the section on beds with no match below is written for you.

Full: Double fits

Our Double is 54x75 in, which is the same footprint as a US Full. Width and length line up. The only remaining check is mattress depth, including any topper, which you should compare against the product page.

Queen: matches

Our Queen is 60x80 in, the same as a US Queen. This is the cleanest match on the chart. One practical check before ordering: look at where your wall socket sits relative to the head of the bed, because the sheet connects by a cord to the earth pin of a wall socket. The product page has the connection details.

California King: King, with a length check

Our King is 72x80 in. A US California King is 72 in wide, so the width matches, and that is why King is the size for a California King. A California King mattress is usually 84 in long, though, and the sheet is listed at 80 in. That is 4 in of difference in length.

I am not going to tell you that is a problem or that it is not. It depends on the mattress and how it sits in your frame. Compare your measured length and depth against the product page, and if the numbers sit close, contact the team with them before ordering.

Standard King: do not order King

A standard US King is 76 in wide. Our King is 72 in wide, so it is 4 in narrower than your mattress. It is a different bed from a California King despite the shared word. If you have a standard King, we do not have a fitted size that fits it.

How to measure your mattress before you order

Measure three things: mattress width, length and depth, with any topper in place. Use a rigid tape measure, record everything in inches, then compare against the size chart and the product page. Depth matters most for fitted sheets, and the product page, not guesswork, states what depth each size is designed to fit.

Diagram of a mattress and topper showing width, length and depth measurement lines

Here is the sequence I would follow:

  1. Strip the bed. Take off your current sheets and any mattress protector so you are measuring the mattress itself.
  2. Measure width. Run the tape across the mattress at the middle, edge to edge. Check again near the head and foot. Mattresses are not always perfectly uniform.
  3. Measure length. Run the tape along the side from head to foot.
  4. Measure depth. Hold the tape vertical at the side of the bed, from the lowest edge of the mattress to the top surface.
  5. Add your topper. If you use a topper or mattress pad, measure its thickness separately and add it to the mattress depth. Then measure the total to confirm.
  6. Write the numbers down. Compare width and length against the table above, and compare total depth against the product page.

The topper step is the one people skip. If you are a hot sleeper replacing your bedding, there is a good chance you have added a topper or a cooling layer, and that changes the depth the fitted sheet has to cover. Measure with it on.

I am deliberately not listing a pocket depth for each size in this article. The product page is the single place where that figure lives, and I would rather you read it from there than from a blog post that could drift out of date. If your depth sits near the edge of what the page states, send us your measurements and ask before you order.

What if your bed has no match?

If your bed is a Twin, Twin XL or standard King, none of our fitted sizes will fit it properly, and I would rather tell you that now than sell you the closest guess. The grounding mat is the honest alternative, because it does not depend on your mattress size.

It can feel odd for a brand to turn away an order. But a wrong-size sheet is a worse outcome for everyone. You wait for delivery, you struggle with the corners, and then you pay return postage. That is a bad way to meet a product you are still deciding whether to trust.

The grounding mat is a separate product with its own page, dimensions and connection details. Read those there rather than assuming it will do the same job as a sheet. It is a different format, and a wellness product, not a medical device, like everything else we sell.

Other beds that are not on our chart, such as split sizes, adjustable bases or non-standard frames, need a conversation rather than a guess. Send the team your measurements and ask. A straight answer from us is worth more than a hopeful order from you.

What stays the same at every size

Every size uses the same textile and the same documentation: organic bamboo woven with 10% silver thread, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certificate SH025 231655, RoHS certificate CHHB26080392392 and a tester pen in every box. Size changes the dimensions only, so you are not trading quality for fit.

I try to keep two kinds of claim apart, and a sizing article is a good place to show it. One kind is what the fabric is and what it has been tested for. The other is what grounding does for sleep. They are different questions with different standards of evidence.

What the fabric is. The sheet is organic bamboo with fine silver fibres woven through it, not coated on top. Bamboo on its own is not conductive enough to ground a body, and I did not want a sheet people put up with just because it grounds. So the silver has a job to do: conduct. The bamboo keeps the softness, breathability and moisture handling that matter to hot sleepers. The sheet connects by a cord to the earth pin of a wall socket. No power flows. Only the grounding connection is used.

What it has been tested for. The textiles carry OEKO-TEX Standard 100, certificate SH025 231655. Our manufacturing partner is certified at Product Class I, the strictest class under that standard. The grounding sheets also have separate RoHS compliance testing, certificate CHHB26080392392. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 covers harmful substances in textiles, and RoHS covers restricted substances. Neither one tells you anything about sleep.

What grounding does for sleep. This is an open question. The published studies are small, and their sample sizes and limits are worth reading for yourself. The Sleep Foundation's overview of grounding sheets is a reasonable place to start. I describe only what people report, and I do not claim any outcome.

The tester pen in every box lets you see conductivity for yourself. Check it when you first set the sheet up and again over time. I do not promise any durability or recommend a check after every wash. The point is that you can look at the evidence on your own bed instead of taking our word for it.

If you want to compare fabrics, we cover bamboo against cotton in a separate article, Bamboo vs Cotton Grounding Sheets, so I will not repeat it here.

How the 90-night trial and 1-year warranty fit in

The 90-night trial starts from delivery and the warranty runs for 1 year. Both are a backstop if the sheet is not right for you. Neither replaces measuring, because a wrong-size sheet costs you return postage and weeks of waiting, and returns need to be in reasonable condition.

The terms are plain. The trial runs 90 nights from delivery. Returns need to be in reasonable condition, and return postage is on you. The warranty runs for 1 year. That is the whole offer, and there is no promo code sitting behind it.

The reason for 90 nights is the first 30 nights. Some people notice something in the first week. Many notice nothing until the third. Both are normal, and I cannot promise anyone a timeline of results. A trial that long gives you room to decide without pressure: sleep on it for 90 nights, decide later.

That only works if the sheet fits. A wrong-size sheet tests your measuring, not the product. If the corners will not hold, you will spend your trial fighting the bedding instead of judging the fabric. So use the trial as the way to test the product, and use the tape measure as the way to make that test fair.

Size is the easy question, here is the harder one

Most grounding content argues about whether grounding works. I think that skips the thing you actually lie on. You spend about eight hours a night with your skin on this fabric, and almost nobody in the category talks about the textile: what it is made of and what it has been tested for. My view is that you should judge a grounding sheet on the textile first.

I did not start Organic Earthing because of grounding. I started because I had become conscious of what touches your skin every night, and I was choosing natural materials where I could. When I found grounding, I could not find a brand that combined it with the materials and the quality I wanted in my own home. The products I saw were clinical, generic or led with price.

So I chose independent testing, accepting a higher cost and a more complicated supply chain. The result is that we can publish certificate numbers instead of adjectives. I don't want customers to trust us because we've written 'premium' on a website. I want there to be something behind it.

That is also why I think a sizing guide is a small trust test. A brand that will tell you when its product does not fit your bed is more likely to tell you the truth about the rest. A grounding sheet is a $419 decision made online, by people who cannot feel the fabric or know how they will sleep on it until it is on their own bed. The least we can do is make the fit unambiguous.

Here is the part I most want you to take away: question every claim, including ours. Certification terminology is specific, and a badge can look impressive with very little behind it. Ask these of any grounding brand, and ask them of us:

  • What is the sheet actually made from? Ours is organic bamboo with 10% silver thread.
  • What makes it conductive, and what conductive material is used? Silver fibres woven through the bamboo.
  • Can you test the conductivity yourself? Yes, with the tester pen in every box.
  • How does it connect to ground? By a cord to the earth pin of a wall socket. No power flows.
  • What testing or documentation does the company actually have? OEKO-TEX Standard 100, certificate SH025 231655, and RoHS compliance certificate CHHB26080392392. Certified to what standard, and what does it cover? Harmful substances in the textile, and restricted substances in the grounding bedding. It does not cover sleep outcomes.

I keep the same discipline elsewhere. Our silk has a GOTS scope certificate, USB TEX-4007-GOTS-2509. That is a scope certificate, not a transaction certificate, and I describe it that way. OEKO-TEX also runs an online Label Check tool, so you can look up a certificate number rather than take a badge on trust. Consumers who ask these questions more often would be good for the whole category. We are the premium, transparent end of grounding, and that only means something if you can check it.

Measure, then choose your size

Measure your mattress, check it against the size table above, then choose your size on the certified fitted grounding sheets page. If you are unsure, contact the team before ordering and send your width, length and depth including any topper. Every order is covered by the 90-night trial.

Questions people ask

What size grounding sheet fits a US Queen bed?

Our Queen is 60x80 in, which matches a US Queen. Measure your mattress depth, including any topper, and compare it with the product page before ordering. Depth is the figure that most often decides whether a fitted sheet sits properly.

Is there a grounding sheet for a twin bed?

Not from Organic Earthing. Our Single is 35x75 in, which is 3 in narrower than a US Twin at 38 in, and a Twin XL has the same width problem. The grounding mat is the alternative.

Which grounding sheet is for a California King?

King (72x80 in) is the size for a California King. The 72 in width matches. California King mattresses are usually 84 in long, so compare your measured length and depth with the product page, and contact the team if the numbers are close.

Will the King size fit a standard US King bed?

No. A standard US King is 76 in wide, and our King is 72 in wide, so the sheet is 4 in narrower than your mattress. Do not order King for a standard King.

Do I need to include my mattress topper when measuring?

Yes. Measure the mattress depth, then add the topper or mattress pad thickness, and use the total. Compare that total with the depth stated on the product page. If it sits near the limit, send your measurements to the team and ask first.

What if I order the wrong size?

The 90-night trial starts from delivery. Returns need to be in reasonable condition, and return postage is on the customer. A wrong size costs you postage and time, so measure first and contact the team before ordering if you are unsure.
